A fond farewell to Hangar T-2

Wheels Up! Gala Dinner Committee

It was fitting that the last special event in Hangar T-2, the museum’s home for the past 34 years, was the 2018 Wheel’s Up! Gala on Saturday, October 20.

The gala was attended by dozens of long-term partners, supporters, donors, members, and volunteers who have contributed to the success of the museum in so many ways, since the museum’s founding in 1974.

The gala dinner has been an annual event since 1984 and has earned a reputation for being one of the most fun fundraising events in Winnipeg, and the 2018 gala was no exception. It is certainly the event held in the most unusual venue — a hangar filled with airplanes.

The funds raised from this year’s gala will be invested in new technologies and educational programming to enhance our storytelling of aviation history in a way that also inspires young people to consider careers in aviation and aerospace.

One highlight of the evening was the draw to award a pair of Air Canada tickets to a destination anywhere on the airline’s network. Congratulations to Jerome Rossignol of Winnipeg, winner of the draw.

The museum and Board of Directors extend their thanks to the sponsors, donors, table and ticket purchasers, and the staff and volunteers who made the 2018 gala a tremendous success. Special thanks to the dinner committee for their time commitment, expertise and enthusiasm — their combined wisdom and organization gave the event its wings!
