August 29 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
This month’s meeting will take place in person at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, and by Zoom, on Thursday 29 August, at 7 pm CDT.
This month’s speakers are Joel Ralph and James Gillespie.
Joel is the author of “The Darkest Nights,” a feature article in the April / May issue of Canada’s History magazine about the RCAF and Canadian airmen during the air battle over Berlin from November 1943 to March 1944. The article follows the experience of his great uncle, Joe Halloran, a bomb aimer with No 622 Squadron. He will share insights from the story of this pivotal moment in RCAF history. Joel is a public historian based in Winnipeg and has been interested in aviation history since a young age.
James is the Art Director of Canada’s History magazine. A graduate of Red River College, he joined Canada’s History in 2009 and has been Art Director of the magazine since 2013. He has worked with countless artists to develop and tell incredible stories from Canadian history. James will share his process for developing the aviation covers and artwork for the magazine.
Registration for this meeting is required at CAHS-MB. Our meetings are free and open to CAHS members and everyone interested in Canadian aviation history.
