March 13 @ 10:00 am – March 15 @ 5:00 pm
Join members of the Winnipeg Gliding Club at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada for a three-day exploration of the thrilling world of glider flying.
Club members will be on hand throughout to answer questions, share real-world flying experiences, and explain what makes soaring such a unique and exhilarating form of aviation. Learn how gliders stay aloft, and why gliding has long been an important pathway into aviation.
As a volunteer-run organization, The Winnipeg Gliding Club is dedicated to promoting the sport of soaring and fostering a lifelong appreciation for aviation. Whether you are curious about flight, exploring a potential new hobby, or simply want to learn more about how aircraft fly without engines, this event offers something for all ages.
Family-Friendly Hands-On Activities
Visitors are invited to take part in a special drop-in activity designed for young aviators and curious minds. Children can build their own foam glider and experiment with three interchangeable wing shapes, testing how different designs affect lift, stability, and flight distance. This playful, hands-on activity introduces basic principles of aerodynamics in an engaging and accessible way—perfect for experimenting, learning, and having fun together.

Want to Fly for Real?
