A MUSEUM TRANSFORMED. DESIGNED TO INSPIRE, EDUCATE, AND ENTERTAIN.

What to Expect

Our brand new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art building is prominently located on Wellington Avenue, the main entrance/exit road for Winnipeg Richardson International Airport.

Museum entryway rendering

Upon entering the museum, under the majestic figure of a Tiger Moth hanging overhead, visitors begin exploring the Richardson Gallery of Flight.

Visitors will be guided by the story of flight across western and northern Canada through 14 immersive galleries, including 22 aircraft and a rich selection of artefacts. The galleries highlighting Manitoba’s remarkable contribution to aviation history and the wonder behind the science of flight will inspire future aviators and inventors.

As the museum seeks to honour and commemorate Indigenous Peoples’ history and aviation in Western Canada, we share stories of Indigenous involvement in aviation across Northern Manitoba throughout the exhibits covering two floors of display space.

The museum also features:

  • outdoor Aviation Plaza
  • Founders’ Observation Lounge
  • kids’ zone for interactive play
  • a temporary gallery for visiting exhibits
  • archive room
  • volunteer collection management space
  • Landing Zone Boutique gift shop
  • snack bar
  • meeting rooms
  • unique venue space for special events
