CAHS July meeting

July 27, 2023 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm

**VIRTUAL MEETING**

Live guided tour of warbirds area at AirVenture!

AirVenture, held annually in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is the world’s largest aviation celebration: a solid week of airplanes, unveilings, presentations on many different aviation topics, daily airshows and two nighttime airshows, nightly outdoor movies, four hockey rink-sized exhibition halls selling aviation swag, and did I mention airplanes? Over ten thousand airplanes fly in, everything from tiny homebuilts to a large commercial airliner or two, lots of military stuff, including the latest fighters and helicopters, and lots more. About 100,000 people attend each day of the seven-day long show. There are whole sections of aircraft parking devoted to vintage aircraft, homebuiltsultralights, and warbirds.

The warbirds area covers much of the northern end of the flight line, so large that tours are given on by trams. In past years you could find rare birds like the de Havilland Mosquito, the F-82 Twin Mustang, and the F7F Tigercat. You can always find lines of Harvards / Texans, / SNJs and P-51 Mustangs. There are lots of jets like the T-33 Silver Star, Sabre, the L-39, and much more. Overhead you might see one of the world’s two flying B-29 Superfortresses, the Goodyear Blimp, a Ford Trimotor, or a Bell 47.

Registration is required at CAHS-MB. Our meetings are free and open to CAHS members and everyone interested in Canadian aviation history. The meeting link will be provided around two hours before the meeting. Please register early enough to receive the link.

Please note the early time for this presentation.
